6 Ways to Fill Your Relationship with Romance
Do you want to enjoy your relationship to the fullest? There are many ways to show love and keep romance alive. We all hope for a lifetime of fun and love with our partner, but it takes conscious thought and action.
Some ideas for romance are:
Create traditions. These may be traditions you brought from your family while you were growing up or traditions created with a partner and with your own children. They may be traditions you create with a special group of friends. Traditions can be inherited or established and are a customary pattern of thought, action, or behavior.
Show appreciation. Notice the small things that your partner does for you, the everyday tasks that seem to just happen…the things that actually do not ‘just happen’ It happens through someone’s efforts. Say things like “thank you for getting dinner ready,” “thank you for helping clean the house,” or “thank you for making my day wonderful.”
Show your love. Hug your partner, place your hand on their knee or around their neck, or spend some time just cuddling. Touch is something most partners desire and touch is an affectionate way to say “I love you.”
Have conversations. Set aside time to talk. Talk about your day, listen to your partner talk about their day. Take interest in some of the mundane topics that may bore you; if your partner is talking about something that does not interest you, remember that it interests them. Pick a top topic, a current event, or grab some conversation starting questions to get the ball rolling.
Dream together. What do you want in life? Where do you want to be in 5 years? Do you want to take some trips together or separately? Do you have a bucket list you would like to start working on? Do you have a bucket list…maybe you can build one together.
Lastly, make memories together. Memories are gifts that last a lifetime. Be engaged and enthusiastic about making moments count. Journal these moments so they can be shared and remembered for those future conversations that you will have in your golden years.
